Remember Paul Simon and Harry Belafonte when they put together African artists and they helped to introduce artists like Mariam Makeba, Hugh Masekela, Lady Smith Black Mambazo to the American audience? There is a new American artist on the loose again. This time it is Bela Fleck. Bela Fleck, who is a re-known American Banjo player has succeeded in marrying Blue Grass with African roots music. It is believed that the design ideas of the Banjo instrument which is now synonymous with Blue Grass has origins from Africa. In 2005, Bela traveled to Africa visiting countries like Mali, Gambia, Uganda and Tanzania on a very ambitious project where he went to seek the roots of the Banjo. On this tour, he performed with various African artists and what culminated from that was the album "Throw Down Your Heart" and now the current project harvest in performances that will awe you.

HOTT is the one word to describe Destra’s album release party at SOB in NYC. Shellena Lee, VP of Marketing for King Leo Promotions was there to cover it all. SOB’s was full to maximum capacity on what I would say was the first beautiful spring evening of 2009. From the time the soca diva hit the stage the entire audience got totally out of control with excitement and appreciation for Ms. Garcia. Always thinking of her fans Destra performed all her hits like Carnival, Trample It and I Dare You..

The Ugandan music industry has seen several artists come into the lime lights and some disappear as one-hit wonders but that may not be the case for Bobi Wine who is one of Uganda's leading musicians. Of course people are still anxiously waiting from his brother, producer cum musician, Eddy Yawe, who released a great album with peoples' favorite hits like "Kati Onoba", "Maria" and "Irene" to mention but a few.

IT is the middle of 2009. Moses Opobo finds out who is on track to be the hottest musician of the year.
JOSE CHAMELEONE
I have never seen more outpouring of sympathy and love to a local musician as did happen to Jose, following his highly mysterious Arusha accident. Well, not when that artiste was still alive. I went to his hospital bed in Nsambya Hospital and, looking at the expressions on many fellow artistes’ faces, I got this feeling it was the one time they wished a similar accident occurred to them!

Foods: Fuel for Sex
By: Cindy Tshola.
Who compiled this list? May be the researchers need to extend their research and consult from African nutritionists what drives the sexual prowess of African men. None of the African foods is on this list yet the sex drive of most African men is rated very high. No wonder many men are polygamous in Africa yet they are able to keep with their duties! You may agree or disagree with me but the list is fishy and misses the most important foods. May be the secret is in foods like yam, peanuts, yuca, millet, corn, green banana, potatoes, rice, which are rampant in African diets! You can't mess with a man who is fed on Ugali (corn meal) for a lifetime, exercises the body by walking long journeys to collect water, firewood, and tills his garden to provide food for the family. Nevertheless, I agree with the authors that being overweight could cause reduction in sex drive due to low self esteem and it related health effects.
Here is the list called Fuel for Sex!
Researchers have found that many foods contain hundreds of chemical compounds that have very specific, and sometimes sex-enhancing, effects.
You can make nutrition as complicated as you like, but you should follow the basics—keeping your weight down, eating less junk food, and getting the right mix of protein, carbs, and fats. You're going to have more energy than you did before. Simple as that.
Energy, of course, is one thing, and sexual energy and capacity are something else altogether. Which brings us to the subject of food and sex. In the past few decades, researchers have gotten pretty good at decoding the chemical mix in the foods we eat. What they've discovered is that many foods contain hundreds of chemical compounds that have very specific, and sometimes sex-enhancing, effects.
They're not aphrodisiacs, in the sense of driving up libido and inflaming desire. Rather, many of these chemicals essentially fine-tune the machinery of sex by reducing cholesterol buildup and enhancing blood flow, stimulating the release of feel-good brain chemicals and hormones, and giving your body the chemical energy it needs to work at top capacity.

Chilies
They contain capsaicin, a chemical compound that causes your heart to race and your skin to flush—a sure sign that blood flow is on the fast track. They dilate blood vessels and help all of that blood get where it's needed. |
