In walks mi bredrin/bredda, Ky-mani Marley.
Stan Smith, a free-lance journalist once mentioned to me that, 'Ky-mani's song Dear Dad shows all the
emotions of a child losing his father. In that song, he is a child, a child expressing himself and showing the
emotions a child feels at the loss of a parent. Ky-mani has always been the type of person I could tell feels deeply.
Listening to Dear Dad, the listener can see Bob Marley as a father, these children's dad, and not just the icon he is to the world...just
simply a dad to this little boy who has experienced a tremendous loss'.
Ok, so where am I going with this? Right here.
Back to people expressing themselves.
I am thankful that Ky-mani went against tremendous opposition and told HIS story.
Dear Dad...the song, the book. Non-fiction...art inspired by true life events.
Who feels it knows it. No one can/could tell his story but him.
At first, many people wanted to crucify Kym for speaking what was on his mind...his past, his now.
The critics were many..........................Kym stood his ground.
Why? Because he had something to say, and why shouldn't he be allowed to say his piece?
His story wasn't written to cause pain to anyone. As a matter of fact, I don't see how this book could cause
anyone pain. Truth is truth. Mrs Marley wrote her book, now Ky-mani Marley has published his book. I
see no problem with that, do you?
I am thankful the reviews of his book are positive.
People finally get it.
Never have I met anyone with as much love in his heart as Ky-mani.
HE LOVES HIS FAMILY/CHILDREN/friends and fans.
The Ky-mani I know, is a loving father. Family oriented in everyway.
I am sooooooooooo happy this book is out there. It's motivational if yu ask me.
You can rise above it..............no matter what 'it' is............................with love.
The first conversation Kym and I had at the start of this year he said, 'It's a love revolution Shilo. No matter
what people have to overcome this year, we have to do it with love'.
Ky-mani has his faults...as does everyone. No man is perfect. I am not trying to paint an unrealistic image of this man...
all I'm doing is putting my two cents in. Dear Dad is a must have for your collection. If you don't
have a book collection, start one. Start it with a book that was written from a place where most people
couldn't have survived, had they been in his shoes.
I encourage the nay-sayers to read as well. Read with an open mind...you might be surprised
what you walk away with.
Proud of you Ky-mani.
Stay true to self mi likkle bredda...no matter what happens, no one can take 'that' from you.
